Elsa wants to save the world! She has previous worked as the IT Sustainability Lead at Scania. In that role she initiated the decarbonization journey of IT at Scania and the Volkswagen Group. She has been driving the Green IT topic on a strategic and operational level throughout the Volkswagen Group. Now she wants to empower millions of developers through Gaia Gen, a startup financed by Scania!

About the topic: Green software development – are you running dirty applications?

The software industry is projected to surpass the heavy duty vehicle industry in terms of emissions within this decade. An application, IT system or website is considered DIRTY if sustainability has not been taken into consideration when building and running them. To lower the climate footprint from data and IT systems we need to empower the ones building these systems: the software developers.
